Mount Defiance

Mount Defiance (5,584ft)

Descending from the summit

Eric and Katie, December 2, 2018

We drove up to the Ira Springs trailhead Sunday morning and hiked up behind a bunch of other parties. Snowline started around 3,000ft but the trail was well stomped out so didn’t need any traction. We continued past Mason Lake up to the summit around 12:30pm and didn’t need snowshoes at all, though we lugged them up. It snowed on the hike up, but cleared out for great views of McClellan Butte and Mt Washington across the valley. We got back well before sunset and headed back to Seattle.
