We decided to ski up to Camp Muir in Rainier National Park Monday to avoid the crowds and stick to safe snow slopes. We arrived at the gate in Longmire just after it opened at 9am, and were skinning up from Paradise by 10am. There were a dozen or so other skiers enjoying the sunshine and warm temps.

After 3.5 hours we reached camp muir around 10,000ft, and I scrambled up nearby Muir Peak to admire the view. From there we skied back down, following a group of other skiers onto the Nisqually glacier and down to the Nisqually bridge, for a 6,500ft descent. It was an easy hitch back up to the car at Paradise and we made it back to Seattle that evening.
