Potholes Climbing

Potholes Climbing

Sunset with the climbs in the background

April 11-12, 2020, Eric and Katie

On Saturday morning we drove out to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge, which is currently open. We parked near Upper Goose Lake and made the short bushwhack to the climbs. From the amount of growth and lack of footprints it looked like no climbers had been there for a long time. We’d climbed here in October 2016 and remembered it being fun, though a bit difficult because there are not many options for anchors on the tops of the climbs. The climbs are also short, which is I think why most climbers instead go to nearby Frenchman Coulee instead.

We got in a few climbs before sunset, then went back to camp for the night. Sunday morning we got in a few more climbs, then went on a few short nearby hikes on the marsh trail and rim rock trail before heading back home.
