We headed out of town Saturday morning and started up the Andrews Creek trail just before noon. A few miles up we met a trail crew working on cutting out logs up to Andrews Pass, so hopefully it’ll be all clear soon. After crawling over logs we turned left on trail 525 and hiked up Peepsight creek. The trail gradually got smaller and harder to follow, but there were occasional cairns. Eventually the trail headed southwest, deviating far from our map, so we decided to go cross country. The terrain was very open and progress easy.

We hiked up to the pass and got a great view of the surrounding Pasayten wilderness. We then descended, plunge stepping down snow slopes to reach the scenic Peepsight Lake. The lake was partially iced over still, but that probably won’t last much longer. We found a nice packers campsite and had a big campfire before bed.

In the morning we hiked back up to the pass and I quickly scrambled up and tagged Peepsight Mountain while Katie took a break. We made it back down to the trailhead by 4:30pm, which gave us just enough time to get ice cream in Winthrop before the shop closed.
